A realization. An epiphany. Reality.
This began on July 25, 2010. I was sitting in the pew of Immanuel Lutheran Church, like any other Sunday. I had gotten so used to thinking my own thoughts about my own needs, my own desires, and thinking about what the rest of that Sunday had in store..for ME. Pastor Joseph Myers had something about him that day, a realization, an assurance. Everything that day seemed so clear. Pastor was in the middle of his sermon, and I was listening halfway just like I had gotten so used to doing. His voice became louder..almost like he was talking to me. He told a story about a man who had trouble praying to God. The spiritual advisor he had been talking to about his trouble told him this: "Pray the Lord's Prayer. Beginning to end. Completely connecting and devoting yourself to God and thinking of nothing else. Do this and I will give you my stallion. Be honest." The man began to pray.."OUR FATHER...." and right when he said that, his thought was "Does a saddle come with that stallion?"
Pastor laughed and showed his genuine heart-warming smile. "Beloved, how's your prayer life?"
